Ayan
Can a commercial film be made with enough logic? Yes is the reply from cinematographer-cum-director K V Anand. My `Ayan' has everything and more, he says.
Starring Suriya and Tamannah in the lead roles, `Ayan' produced by the coveted AVM Productions and presented by Kalanidhi Maran's Sun Pictures, is all set to take theatres by storm from 3 April.
`Ayan' - the title sounds very unique and different. Says K V Anand: `We did a lot of research before zeroing in on this title'.
He says, ' it means one who is unique and stands apart, it also refers to Brahma, and in Arabic, it means God's gift. The hero, a bubbly young man, is all these and more.'
'Working for AVM Stable is no easy thing. A production house with great reputation it gave me enough liberties and kindled my creative spirit. With Suriya around, I felt ease and comfortable in coming up with this entertainer'.
Anand, who made an impression with his earlier film `Kana Kandaen', says Ayan is a commercial film handled with logic. A popular Mumbai face Akashdeep Saigal plays the baddie. He played a villain in Ekta Kapoor's tele-serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi besides taking part in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, a dance reality show.
Interestingly the movie was shot in various countries like Tanzania, Botswana and Namibia. A stunt sequence shot on Zanzibar, an island, is the highlight of the movie, Anand says and adds, `Franz Spilhaus, a stunt team, which worked for Hollywood movies like The Poseidon Adventure and King Solomon's Mines have choreographed the stunt sequences in this film'.
Harris Jayaraj's musical score is a strong point, he says. I thank Suriya, who was there right from the word go giving his best. His contribution and dedication to excel in the role has been extra-ordinary.
The other credits are M S Prabhu (cinematography), K V Anand and Subha (story and screenplay), Antony (editing), S P Muthuraman (co-producer).
Produced by M Saravanan, M S Guhan, Aruna Guhan and Aparna Guhan and presented by Sun Pictures, `Ayan' is a sure summer special.
