Adulteration of food is a fact of life in India. While everybody is aware of it, it nevertheless numbs the mind when specific incidents come to light.
Last Saturday, 2000 kg of dog meat was confiscated in Chennai Egmore railway station. It's believed that the dog meat was supposed to be transported to places like Hyderabad and Cochin. The stench from the parcels was so pungent that Railway Police Force members stopped the smugglers going by the smell. The culprits ran away from the spot when they spotted the police. Food safety officials were called and they confirmed that it's all dog meat!
Had the dog meat not been confiscated, it would have found its way to restaurants and hotels in cities like Hyderabad.
Forwarding important warning: 2000 kg dog meat confiscated today in Chennai Egmore station. All of it was for restaurants and hotels, ordered on daily basis. Also supplies made to Bbay, Hyd, Cochin, other areas. Restaurants list will be out soon.
