James Cameron's 'Avatar' released in 2009 turned out to be not only the biggest blockbuster hit movie of all time but also took the breath away from audiences with its visual splendor and never before seen filmmaking styles. For the past decade or so the Oscar Award winner has been writing the script for not one but four sequels and has already filmed the first two.
Now in a video interaction with Hollywood superstar and his 'Terminator' series hero Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cameron has revealed that 'Avatar 2' has completed filming and 'Avatar 3' has only about five percent shooting to go.
Like all other film projects the 'Avatar' sequels too were affected by the COVID 19 pandemic and only recently the crew and cast including Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana who play Jack Sully and Neytiri respectively shot in New Zealand for several days.
According to Disney's revised plans the release dates of the sequels are as follows 'Avatar 2' Dec 16, 2022; 'Avatar 3' Dec 20, 2024 , 'Avatar 4' Dec 18, 2026; and 'Avatar 5' on Dec 22, 2028.
