Avastha is the debut directorial venture of N Sasidharan, who is keen on rendering a realistic cinema. The movie supposedly reflects the pathetic situation in today's society where toddlers and grannies are being sexually abused and murdered. A strong message that is needed for the society today, he says.
Sasidharan, who has studied cinematography, has worked on several tele-films and documentaries. The movie revolves around Saikumar, who plays a upright police constable. He lives with his grandmother and his only daughter, who is in her school.
Reports of young girls being raped and murdered sets fear in him. Leaving her daughter along with her grandmother adds to his anxiety. How he overcomes his fear forms the crux of the movie.
Saikumar has given his heart out playing the role. Giving all credit to the director, Sai Kumar, 'I just did what the director wanted from me. Hope it comes good on the screen'.
Dhanya Nair, Augustine, Machan Varghese, Harisree Ashokan are also in the cast.
