Autopsy report says that the five Tamil labourers, who passed away two days back by sinking in a Cuddapah lake, died not by any injuries suffered by them but only by sinking in the lake.
Bodies of 5 Tamil wood-cutters were fished out of the Ondimitta lake near the forest area in Cuddapah. It was reported in the vernacular press that the Tamil workers died of injuries when they were attacked by Andhra Pradesh Police for cutting red-sanders. It was feared that the workers might have been attacked and killed before their bodies were thrown into the lake.
Autopsy was conducted on all five bodies at the Cuddapah Govt. Hospital. Dr. Anandkumar, who conducted the autopsy, spoke to newspersons later and confirmed that the five workers had died only due to suffocation because of sinking and added that they hadn’t been beaten to death and thrown into the lake.
“There were no external injuries at all on the bodies of the workers but the bodies were in a highly decomposed state as they were deep inside the waters for more than three days,” the doctor said. He reiterated that there were no signs of attack on their bodies. The dead workers were identified as hailing from Karumanthurai and Adiyanoor in Salem District.
