While the title ‘Auto Raaja’ is very familiar among the cine goers of Kannada cinema since mid 80’s – for this popular title another popular pair golden star Ganesh and Bhama – the actors of ‘Shyloo’ – both earned laurels for their scintillating performance are together again in San City project that was launched on Wednesday morning at Milk Colony playground in Malleswaram Bangalore.

The latest ‘Auto Raaja’ muhuruth was attended by Kichcha Sudeep to light the lamp and flag off the film that was faced by Golden star Ganesh in front of an auto rickshaw.

‘Auto Raaja’ of Shanker Nag and Gayathri was at the hilt of popularity in 80’s in Kannada cinema. The title is picked for a Kannada film of San City shows the power the title has. Late Shanker Nag remains as ‘Auto Raaja’ in the minds of the people. Auto rickshaws have his photographs. Auto stands are named after Shanker Nag in several places. With such a memory now Golden star Ganesh takes up the role of an auto driver. Even Ganesh imitated Shanker Nag in his School and College days. I was ten years when Shanker Nag dies in the road accident in 1990 September 30. I could not meet him even once. I acted with his brother Ananthnag in a few films starting from ‘Mungaru Male’. Recently at ‘Sakkare’ shooting time I disclosed that I am doing ‘Auto Raaja’ Kannada cinema. He and his wife Gayathri (heroine of Auto Raaja) felt happy – Ganesh disclosed this to a few media persons who met him before the start of the formal address. From where Ganesh comes in this film is called as ‘Gayathri Nagara’.

The film has altogether different story. It was in the news of making since two years. For me firstly the title is very inspiring. I have to do justice to the role. I take up the styles of Shanker Nag in this film explained Golden star Ganesh.

Director Udaya Prakash has done the script with a careful approach. He has spoken to at least 100 auto drivers for getting some good facts. He is incorporating all of them. One of the auto drivers celebrated second year birthday for his auto. When Udayaprakash checked with him the sensible auto driver said 18 hours in a day I live in this auto. I should respect it really moved the director. There are many human values of auto drivers in the role of Ganesh. The negatives are shown as introspection in the film. The film will be shot in 50 days – only Bangalore is the location for ‘Auto Raaja’.

Actress Bhama comes as ‘Auto Raani’. She was with Ganesh in Shyloo. She plays a village girl who comes to city. She is very traditional girl but having tremendous dreams in life.
