An auto driver has been arrested by the police in Theni district Bodinayakkanur in connection to the sexual abuse of a 12th standard student, under POCSO act. This incident of the auto driver repeatedly abusing the girl has angered the public while also shocking them.

Silamalai village is located near Theni, and a 17 year old girl who is studying 12th standard in the government higher secondary school located there, was lured by an auto driver named Thangapandi (23), who had taken her to isolated places and molested her many times.

This information was revealed after enquiry made by the police, and as the girl's parents were daily wage earners, they could not monitor her, which has lead to this. It was only after being asked by the girl's mother one day that she revealed the happenings, and after immediate complaint from the mother, a case was filed against Auto driver Thangapandi, under POCSO act and he has been imprisoned while the girl has been sent to rehabilitation center.
