Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has climbed immeasurable heights over the last few years in her career and the actress has made her fans across the globe proud yet again as she and her husband Nick Jonas were chosen to reveal the 2021 Oscar nominations.
However, not everybody seemed to be happy with the decision as an Australian journalist questioned whether Priyanka and Nick were 'qualified enough' to be up for the job. The journalist, Peter Ford, whose Twitter bio says 'the best and most widely heard entertainment reporter in Australia & NZ' allegedly,' wrote on his official page "No disrespect to these two but I'm not sure their contribution to movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees," alongside a picture of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. The actress took to her Twitter page to share a screen recording of her filmography of over 60 movies available on IMDB. Priyanka wrote, "Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration @mrpford."
The journalist made his account private not much later. Criticizing the journalist for the casual racism involved in the remark, a user wrote, "Not only does this diminish a woman's career but also disregards the importance of World Cinema and its presence at the Oscars. Like film doesn't just revolve around American movies."
