Talented actor Gautham Karthik is teaming up with ace director AR Murugadoss's production house Fox Star Studios for the first time on 'August 16 1947'. The film is touted to be a period drama set in the pre-Independence era of India.

The movie tells the tale of a remote village where one man battles British forces. 'August 16 1947' is written and directed by NS Ponkumar. The technical crew of the film includes music by Sean Roldan, Selvakumar SK cranking the camera and Sudharsan on the edit.

'August 16 1947' stars Gautham Karthik, Revathy Richard Ashton, Cooku with Comali fame Pugazh and others in the lead roles. An official announcement regarding the film's release date is yet to arrive.
