'Audiences lap up Khakee's love story'

'Khakee', starring Karthi in the lead role, has been critically praised owing to its gripping crime investigation episodes.
But the audiences have seemingly loved even the romantic track between the lead man and his girl (played by Rakul Preet Singh) in the initial portions of the first half. It's quite refreshing to watch a slice-of-life yet cinematically crazy love story in an era when mobile phones were not popular.
"There were no mobile phones, no Facebook and no Whatsapp. The current generation kids can't imagine that world. Director H Vinoth sets his story in this world," the makers say.
The way Karthi steps into the dimwit Rakul's house as her tuition teacher is hilarious. "Somewhere, they are seen discussing Rs.500 mobile phones, which were quite popular back then," the makers point out.
'Khakee', released on Nov 17, has completed its 7-day run at the BO. Umesh Gupta and Subhash Gupta of Aditya Music Pvt Ltd have produced it in Telugu.
