Atlee- Shah Rukh Khan “Jawan” is a copy of this Tamil movie?

After directing “Thalapathy” Vijay in “Bigil”, Atlee got the golden opportunity of directing Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan. While the whole of Kollywood was proud of Atlee for entering Bollywood, he is now caught in a new controversy for allegedly copying the story of an old movie and remaking it as Jawan.

While fans are eagerly waiting for the updates of the project to the surface, a complaint against director Atlee has been lodged in the producers council citing plagiarism. Veteran producer Manickam Narayanan who owns Seventh Channel production house alleged that Atlee copied the story of “Perarasu” that starred seasoned actor Vijayakanth.

While some said that the Atlee directorial seemed to be ‘inspired’ from Darkman, others called the former an outright copy of the latter. The producer had alsosaid that appropriate actions will be taken against Atlee if he is found guilty. Along with Producers council, the producer also wrote a letter to the South Indian film chamber.

The film revolves around Vijayakanth playing a dual role as Perarasu and Ilavarasu, twin brothers. While the latter is a responsible CBI officer, the former is on the hunt to kill a minister in order to take revenge for the death of his father.

The upcoming film also stars Nayanthara as the female lead and marks the Bollywood debuts of both the actress and Atlee. The film is bankrolled by Red Chillies Entertainment. Jawan is slated for release on June 2, 2023 in the languages of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
