Kabali is one film which had been poised to pip Baahubali's records in the USA. Just its premieres mopped up a whopping USD 1.9 million, making everyone wonder if it's a wonder that will be insuperable for years to come. The news is that, by the end of the opening weekend, the Rajinikanth-starrer has collected USD 4.1 million, thereby becoming the 9th top most film in US, besides being the second biggest hit among South Indian movies after Baahubbali.

At this rate, trade pundits are saying, the Pa.Ranjith directorial may well break the coveted record set by Baahubali. In its entire run, the Rajamouli directorial had mopped up USD 6.9 million.

In Chennai, too, Kabali has had a dream run. It has collected Rs.3,82,61,405 in its opening three day weekend (July 22 to July 24) in metro. In total, 981 shows were screened in 26 theaters (includes malls, multiplexes and singe screens) across the city) in the last three days, and the overall theater occupancy rate stood at 98%.
