Actor Dhanush had recently delivered a blockbuster with Asuran which was directed by Vetrimaran and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu's V Creations. The movie which was based on the novel Vekkai by award winning writer Poomani was released on October 4.

Recently it was announced that Asuran has grossed more than 100 crores and that the movie is being remade in Telugu, with Kalaipuli S Thanu and Suresh productions producing it, and actor Venkatesh signed to play the lead role played by Dhanush in the original.

While the director of this remake is yet to be announced, there is a strong speculation making rounds that actress Shriya Saran might be signed to play the female lead played by Manju Warrier in the original, and an official clarification is awaited on this news.
