The 'Amma Nanna O Tamilammayi' and 'Ghajini' star Asin has been blessed with a baby girl. Her husband, Rahul Sharma, who is a co-founder of Micromax, has expressed joy over his fatherhood.

"We are ecstatic to announce the arrival of our angelic baby girl earlier today (Tuesday). The last nine months have been most special and exciting for the both of us and we would like to thank all our wellwishers and everyone who has been part of our journey for all their love and support," a statement issued from Rahul's manager reads.

Born in 1985, Asin hails from Kerala. She started out as a child artiste in Malayalam. When Puri Jagannadh spotted her and she won a Filmfare for her very debut as a heroine, Asin became a much sought-after actor right from 2003. 'Annavaram' opposite Pawan Kalyan, 'Sivamani' opposite Nagarjuna, 'Lakshmi Narasimha' opposite Balakrishna and 'Gharshana' opposite Venkatesh were her other major films in Telugu. In Tamil, Kamal Haasan's 'Dasavatharam' and Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini' in Hindi, among others, were her big non-Telugu projects.
