Actor Asif Ali's Kunjheldho was one of the films that completed before the pandemic began in 2020. Owing to the first and second waves of the coronavirus pandemic, the team postponed the release of the movie. After multiple delays, the movie is now set to hit the big screens. The debut directorial of RJ Mathukkutty will be hitting the theatres on August 27 as Onam release.
Kunjeldho is the second film to announce the release in theaters post the second wave of pandemic. It may be noted that Mohanlal's ambitious movie Marakkar: Arabikkadalinte Simham, directed by Priyadarshan, was the first movie to have announced the theatrical release date (August 12). Though the Kerala government has lifted the lockdown restrictions, a decision on the reopening of theatres is yet to be made. It is hoped that their functioning would be resumed by August.
Touted to be a campus-based story. Kunjeldho stars Asif Ali and Gopika Udayan in the lead roles along with Sudheesh, Siddique, Arjun Gopal, Rajesh Sharma, and others. Actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan is also part of the team as a creative director. Produced by Prasobh Krishna and Suvin K Varkey under the banner of Little Big Films, the movie's cinematography is by Swaroop Philip and cinematography by Ranjan Abraham.
