Director Ashwin Saravanan had made his debut in 2015 with the horror flick Maya starring lady superstar Nayanthara, and following the success of the movie, directed a thriller Iravaakaalam, with a unique casting.

Starring SJ Suryah, Wamiqa Gabbi and Sshivada, the movie produced by Thenandal Studios limited hasn't released yet due to various issues of the production house, and Ashwin's third movie Game over starring Taapsee released last year.

Recently, the director was asked about Iravaakaalam release on Twitter by a netizen, and Ashwin emotionally responded "Not a day goes by without someone asking me for an update. As a team, it’s heartening to see so many people still emotionally invested in watching the film on a big screen. I wish I had an answer for you. Let’s keep the hope alive & pray for the best". Ashwin is next directing a horror flick starring Samantha and Prasanna.
