'Ashwamedham', an action-cyber thriller, has been directed by a Marathi technician named Nitin G. In this interview, he talks about the film's highlights and what he loves about Telugu cinema. The film, starring Dhruva Karunakar as the hero, will release on August 9.
No body double
This is my first Telugu film. Previously, I have directed two Marathi movies, one of which is yet to release. We completed 'Ashwamedham' in one year. We completed the production works in March. The action scenes took time, the hero did them without a body double. He sustained 14 injuries because of that.
The film's subject
The film is basically about the digital economy. When criminals try to hack the system, the hero single-handedly fights them off. This one is a straight Telugu film, the script-writer is a Telugu man. The title is because the hero is somewhere connected with 'ashwa'. You will understand the rationale once you watch the movie. The hero is from Udipi. There is a love story in the movie but the film is more about action.
I did my research about the cyber world and digital economy before taking up the film. The writer penned the film on the basis of some real incidents.
Warm reception
I don't know Telugu. I was always keen to do a Tollywood movie. The reception of PROs and others here was great. Those who have worked on this film gave me the courage to go ahead. They have got hands-on experience in the industry. I didn't have any problems here.
Highlights of the movie
Charan Arjun's music is a major highlight. More than music and action scenes, you will find the story most interesting. The music director has also dubbed for the hero. We have tried to mix the Telugu and Marathi cultures in the Ganesha festival song. We are going to release a huge poster of our film and it will be so huge that it's going to enter the Guinness Book of World Records.
Telugu actors rule Hindi hearts
Nowadays, everyone from Kashmir to Kanyakumari knows about the Telugu film industry because of Allu Arjun, Jr NTR and others. The Hindi channels are playing the films of some heroes for the entire week. For the whole week, that hero's movies are played. During a train journey, I noticed that 70 percent of travellers were busy watching these movies. Ravi Teja is highly popular in the North. Because of Rajamouli sir, Tollywood has become the biggest. Many Telugu movies are being remade in Bollywood. In the 1990s, Nagarjuna's 'Shiva', Venkatesh's 'Anadi', Chiranjeevi's 'Gentleman' and RGV's 'Satya' changed the tone in Bollywood.
