It is not uncommon for us to hear of actors refusing bold outlandish characters that only went on to create records later. Likewise, director Arun Prabhu Purushothaman before finalising Aditi Balan for the riveting character of Aruvi, had approached several leading actresses to play the part. Reportedly director Arun had pitched the movie to leading heroines such as Nayanthara, Samantha and Shruti Haasan. Eventhough the three were only eager to essay the much talked about role, they weren’t able to take up the project as they were already commited in other movies. In addition to that there was a little hesitance because of the timeline involved for weight reduction for the last 15 minutes of the movie.

However, the three had always been in touch with the director about how the film’s coming up et al as it was one story that had impressed them unanimously.
