The 2017 flick Aruvi directed by debutant Arun Prabhu Purushothaman and produced by SR Prabhu was one of the most celebrated movies of the year, and the film was critically acclaimed as well as commercially successful, winning several awards in film festivals.

The film also marked the debut of Aditi Balan, an lawyer turned actress, as the female lead (after initially appearing in a blink and you miss role in Yennai Arindhaal). Aditi Balan was widely appreciated for her bold and realistic portrayal of a woman affected by HIV, and how she leads her life.

After an year, the talented actress has signed her next, though it is not a Tamil movie. Aditi Balan will be playing the female lead in ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan's upcoming directorial venture Jack and Jill, which has Kalidas Jayaram playing the lead, besides Manju Warrier in a powerful role.
