Director Karthick Naren is known for his debut movie Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru/ D16 released in 2016, and after the crime thriller, he had directed another movie Naragasooran starring Arvind Swami, Shriya Saran, Sundeep Kishan and Aathmika, which has been waiting for release since a long time.

Now the director is all set to start his third movie which had been in pre-production phase for some time. Reportedly titled as Mafia, this movie which the director had initially planned with Arvind Swami will now feature Arun Vijay who recently scored a hit with Thadam as the lead.

Said to be a gangster story, Mafia as per sources will begin shooting from July 8. Produced by Lyca Productions, the movie will have actor Prasanna as the villain and will have Nivetha Pethuraj returning to Tamil after her Vijay Antony starrer Thimiru Pudichavan released last year.
