The union finance minister Arun Jaitley launched a Twitter attack on the Congress President Rahul Gandhi, with this counter being seen as a response to Rahul Gandhi calling the interviews given by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as staged, and that the journalists who conduct such interviews are the ones flexible with BJP.
Arun Jaitley took it to Twitter, calling Rahul Gandhi as the grandson of an Emergency dictator. His tweet read "The Grandson of Emergency Dictator displays his real DNA - attacks and intimidates an independent Editor". The minister went on to post another tweet questioning the silence of pseudo-liberals, and asking if they were waiting for a response from Editor's guild.
By 'Emergency Dictator', Arun Jaitley had directly referred to Rahul Gandhi's grandmother Indira Gandhi, who had imposed emergency during her tenure as the Indian Prime Minister. The tweets from Jaitley are a followup to Rahul Gandhi coming out in the open, declaring Modi's interviews were staged, following which Smita Prakash who had interviewed Modi called Rahul's remarks as a cheap shot, and that if he wanted to attack Modi, he must go ahead and not ridicule her, adding that it was not expected from the President of India's oldest political party.
