As reported earlier, Bollywood actress Payal Rohatgi was sent to nine days in judicial custody on Sunday on charges of posting objectionable content and defamatory remarks on former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, his father Motilal Nehru, and the entire Nehru clan.
A complaint was registered against her a Youth Congress leader, following which she was booked under sections 66 and 67 of the IT Act. Although an earlier bail application was denied by the court on Monday, Payal has been granted bail by an additional district court judge in Rajasthan's Bundi on Tuesday.
"With a dismal, disappointing look on her face, Rohatgi reached the jail with a police escort and was lodged in general female ward of the jail at 12.40 pm on Monday with five other female inmates. These inmates are accused of murder, loot and drug smuggling," the deputy superintendent of Bundi Central Jail informed a news agency.
Soon after coming out on bail, Payal said that she was put in a dingy cell where she couldn't sleep. "Listening to the stories of fellow inmates touched me. I hope I will never have to go to jail again in my life," Payal has been quoted as saying.
