The first person to watch any motion picture, before anybody else, is the cinematographer. It is through their eyes that we see a movie. And when it is a film widely appreciated by every lucky pair of eyes that got to watch it already, the opinions of the camera person is of all importance. We are talking about the Diwali release, 'Arrambam', which is said to be a particularly spectacular movie, as certified by the rare lot that got to watch it early. And all of them have one question in common to the cinematographer, Om Prakash - how did it feel to have shot such risky scenes so true to life? But Om Prakash has a different perspective, as he replies "It is easy to station the camera in a place and shoot all day long.
But what adds life to the whole process is the contribution from the lead actor. It is the emotion that the actor brings out which makes me want to see more and capture more. That way, Ajith is truly marvelous. His sheer dedication has been my highest source of inspiration in 'Arrambam'. Arya is a charm to capture on screen. While there is never a dull moment with him on the sets, when the camera starts rolling, he is an actor par excellence. On the other hand, everybody spoke of Ajith's dedication when he met with an accident on the sets. But I saw it project right in my lens and my camera's, and I know the depth of the headlines. His knee got battered against the bonnet of the car, while shooting. But he did not as much as wince until the director called out that the shot has come out fine. And when we saw the injury, we were sure that Ajith needed rest, but he was the first to turn up the next day for shoot! Ajith is dedication personified." More reasons to call Ajith our 'Thala'.
