And here it is! Danny Boyle directed 'Slumdog Millionaire' had a sweeping victory at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards last night, at the Royal Opera House in London. The film won seven out of the eleven awards that it had been nominated for. Our very own A.R. Rahman won the BAFTA award for the best music score.
The film also received awards for the Best Film, Best Director (Danny Boyle), Best Adapted Screenplay (Simon Beaufoy), Best Music (AR Rahman), Best Editing (Chris Dickens), Best Sound (Resul Pookutty, Glen Freemantle, Richard Pryke, Tom Sayers, Ian Tapp) and Best Cinematography (Anthony Dod Mantle).
The BAFTA is usually referred to as the British Oscar. Earlier the Golden Globes and now the BAFTA going the 'Slumdog's way it wouldn't be long before the Oscars decide the fate of the 'Slumdog Millionaire'. For that we will have to wait till the eve of Feb 22, when the Oscars will be announced.
Rahman sir it will not be too long for the Oscars to find their way to you.
