Prithviraj, the latest sensation in Kollywood, following back-to-back hits in Kanaa Kanden and Parijatham, is back with Arpudha Theevu.
Inspired by the Malayalam movie Albutha Dweepu, the movie stars Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu girl Mallika Kapoor as the heroine.
Manivannan, Karunas, Vaiyapuri and Malayalam comedian Jagadish are also in the cast.
A few scenes from the original have been retained in the Tamil version.
Over 300 dwarf junior artistes have been roped in especially for this film to give a realistic touch. Story, screenplay and direction are by Vinayan, a name to reckon with in Malluwood industry.
Arpudha Theevu has dialogues by Rajan and music by Jayachandran.
The movie is about Wonder Island where no man is more than three feet tall but the women are of normal size and beautiful due to a curse.
Indian Navy personnel swim to the shores of this island when their helicopter crashes. How they save themselves from the wrath of these Lilliputians and sail back to their own world forms the rest of the story. The movie did witness good crowds in Kerala.
With Prithviraj having a good fan following in Tamil Nadu, it is appropriate that they come out with a Tamil version featuring Prithviraj himself in the lead role.
Vinayan has made a few changes to suit Tamil audience and an item number featuring Malavika was shot recently.
The movie is sure to attract children, says an optimistic Vinayan.
