'Arjun Reddy', being remade in Hindi, has become 'Kabir Singh'. Now, the name has a universal appeal in India, with Kabir a popular first-name and Singh, too, having a resonance.
Shahid Kapoor plays the self-destructionist and luckily-successful-in-love lover boy essayed by Vijay Deverakonda in the original. Set to hit the screens on June 21, the film has Kiara Advani (the 'Bharat Ane Nenu' heroine) as the female lead.
“#ArjunReddy was loved and appreciated now it is time for #KabirSingh! Get reddy to see him in 2019,” the hero today tweeted.
Reportedly, the remake is set partly in Mumbai and partly in New Delhi. Director Sandeep Vanga has a good understanding of the cultures of these cities, a report recently said.
