Working on shows like Victorious and Sam & Cat, Ariana Grande has begun to share her experiences. The 7 Rings singer claimed on Penn Badgley's Podcrushed podcast that she is starting to reprocess her experience on these shows.
Grande said, looking back, We had some very unique memories and feel blessed to have developed those roles for young kids. We're revising our connection to it now, though. Her Nickelodeon experience has been well-publicized by her co-star Jennette McCurdy. McCurdy said in her memoir of improper behavior by someone she called The Creator, who she thought to be producer Dan Schneider.
Grande voiced worries about the conditions in which young performers work, recommending changes such as hiring therapists and giving parents more access to the sets. Anyone working in TV or music with major exposure should have to have therapy included in their contracts, she said.
In addressing the Sam & Cat videos, Grande said that some of the material was offensive and contained sexual allusions, such as footage of her juicing a potato. We thought it was cool to push the edge with our humor, she said. But now as I think back, I'm like, 'Really? How startling is that?
Grande further said that certain videos have snuck onto the website even though they were not allowed for the network. Schneider allegedly uploaded a video of Grande attempting to put her foot in her mouth online. That presents still another finding. Clearly distraught, she said, I guess I'm upset going into it.
