American singer-songwriter Ariana Grande is the first ever female celebrity to reach 200 million followers on Instagram and is also the second-most followed person on Instagram following Portugese and Juventus soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo who is followed by 237 million people.
The 27-year-old singer replaced Selena Gomez as the most-followed woman on the picture-sharing social media app last year. Selena Gomez is the third most-followed woman on Instagram with 190 million followers while Kylie Jenner is in the second place with 193 million followers. Pop star Lady Gaga, who collaborated with Ariana Grande for the award-winning song 'Rain On Me' was one of the first people to congratulate the latter on her accomplishment. "Congratulations to my friend @arianagrande for 200 million followers. You're a queen. Wear that crown," Lady Gaga wrote. Grande and Gaga took the stage for the first live performance of 'Rain on Me' at the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend, where they won the award of the night for best collaboration on the track. "thank u so much for having me @ladygaga i love u with all my heart always. u were so beyond brilliant tonight. so grateful to have been a part of this with u. & thank u again @mtv," Ariana Grande had posted on social media after Lady Gaga congratulated her.
The young singer rose to fame for her role as Cat Valentine in the 2010 Nickelodeon television series 'Victorious.' Ariana Grande's fourth studio album, Sweetener (2018), earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, while her her fifth studio album, Thank U, Next (2019), was nominated for the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and set a record for the largest streaming week for a pop album.
