Just yesterday Salman Khan was heard saying that it was Abhinav Kashyap who was supposed to do 'Dabangg 2' and it was only after the director walked out of the film did Arbaaz Khan step in as a director.
However if insiders are to be believed, it is a known fact though that seeds of these were pretty much being sown, even though sub consciously, during 'Dabangg' days itself.
"While Arbaaz was handling the production of 'Dabangg', there was quite some creative involvement from him in the direction department as well even though Anurag Kashyap was the man behind the film.
No wonder, when the film's sequel was being made, it was pretty much looked at as a calculated risk of replacing Abhinav Kashyap, especially when the filmmaker himself decided to move on", informs a source.
However Arbaaz feels that the word 'replacement' comes with a wrong connotation as Abhinav was given a fair chance.
He says, "See, for starters, I did not replace Abhinav. Let me reiterate the fact and bring it on records all over again that 'Dabangg 2' was always proposed with Abhinav. That is the whole truth and nothing else. In fact if I wouldn't have done that, it would have been only unfair for me to do anything else. Abhinav was given an option to direct, we did met, discuss things and even too it to a certain stage further. Then there were reasons known only to him that he wanted to move on."
"That left me with no other option but to pick the film myself since I was closest to the approach that 'Dabangg' as a film required", he details.
Well, as they said, whatever happens, it is for good. If the promos of 'Dabangg 2' are any indication, it is clear that there doesn't appear to be any break in narrative whatsoever and the film is pretty much starting from where it left.
Come 21st December and it would be known to one and all that what's the kind of distance that the film would cover, now that Arbaaz Khan is at the helm of affairs.
