According to the latest reports, Actor-Producer Arbaaz Khan has confessed his involvement in placing bets in 6 matches during the IPL. He had appeared before the Thane police station this morning to record his statement in connection with the IPL betting case. His name had come up while the cops were interrogating one high-profile bookie named Sonu Jalan who was accused of operating an international betting racket. Jalan is also said to have connections with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
It is said that Arbaaz had lost Rs 2.75 cr to Sonu Jalan while betting and was not paying it back. Thereby the bookie was threatening the actor. Khan was unable to be contacted despite many efforts. On the other side, the police said, it is believed that Jalan dragged Khan into the betting racket and the actor paid him over Rs 3 crore. Khan was being blackmailed.
Jalan's diary that is now under the possesion of the cops has several biggies names who had bet huge amounts on certain IPL teams and players.
