Cool Melodies for Arabikatha
IndiaGlitz [Friday, June 29, 2007 • മലയാളം] Comments

Lal Jose has been the director who has been careful enough to select the best of the songs for his films. In his career that stretches more than a decade, every film of his was musical hits. Starting from Oru Maravathoor Kanavu to the latest Classmates, this long time assistant of Kamal has kept the tradition of being with the best musically.

His latest Arabikatha also is also a stunner musically with a couple of melodies that may definitely find place in the charts. Lal Jose is introducing a new music director Biji Bal who shows that he has grown enough to become a contender for the biggies in the circuit, even with his debut film. The Lyricist Anil Pachooran also delivers some of the best heard lyrics in recent times.

1. Tharatha Malarukal Singers: Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sujatha

The album opens with this playful song animatedly celebrating the joy of love and togetherness against some meaningful, nostalgic lyrics. The song opens, making us remember of the K P A C song 'of the 50's ' with the instrumental which result is both endearing and entertaining opening of the tracks.  It's a feel-good potential chartbuster,

2.  Thirike Singers: Yesudas, Gayathri

This is the pick of the songs in the album, rendered as solos in two versions by Yesudas and Gayathri.

In this pleasant and lilting composition, full of nostalgia, the singer's soulful and sensitive rendition adds to the impact. It is slowly becoming a favorite with many. The song opens with interludes of Persian music and Nadan Pattu. The song is all about the ache of being away from the land you love, and the memories that linger with you when you are away from your home land. The song will in all probabilities be in the charts for long and will be one of the best heard, recent times.

3. Thene Paadum Singers: Rajeev Kodampilly, T R Soumya

Debuting with this love song is two new singers whose rendering with clean cut notes and dazzling originality, instantly impresses. With beautiful guitar strains and interludes, the music director has taken special care to take out the best from the debutantes.

What makes the song cool is that it doesn't belong to any particular genre.

4. Poraveena Singer: Anil Pachoooran

The lyricist himself wields the microphone to wax eloquent on life and its philosophy in the charged song. With less instrumentation, this is one like a slogan song with much meaningful lyrics.

5. Theme music

This is a hotch potch of the songs in the film, which essentially echoes the mood of the film

Altogether the sound tracks of the film are a well-designed, wholesome one with emphasis on melody, and innovation. Featuring four individual tracks no sad versions and full of nostalgia that we expect from a cinema that is shot mostly on gulf.

It is four out of four!

Another musical success in getting the perfect score from the best loved and meticulous director of our times. This is a perfect recommendation for your heart.
