The Oscar is regarded as the most prestigious award in film history. Renowned artists around the world will be invited to join the Award committee. Isai Puyal AR Rahman and actor Suriya are the only people from the Tamil film industry to be members of the panel. Now, the organisation has revealed the 2023 list of new members invited to join its ranks.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences sent invitations to over 398 artists across the globe and nearly nine of them are from Indian cinema. Six from SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' cast and crew have found a place in this list and they are Ram Charan, Jr NTR, music composer MM Keeravani, lyricist Chandrabose, DOP KK Senthil Kumar and art director Sabu Cyril.
While Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is also on the list, Kollywood's legendary director Mani Ratnam was invited to join the Oscar committee. He is now the first Tamil director to be a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. ARR took to social media to welcome Mani Ratnam to the club. Producer Siddharth Roy Kapoor is also on the list of the Oscar panel invitees.
