Do you know the cost of AR Rahman's Covid-19 face mask?

Oscar winning music composer AR Rahman is one of the recent celebrities to get his shot of the Covid-19 vaccine. The ace music director posted a picture on his Instagram handle after getting his first jab of Covishield at a vaccination centre in Chennai along with his son AR Ameen.

The picture caught the attention of social media users who spotted the father-son duo wearing a special kind of mask and became intrigued to learn more about the exact characteristics of the same. The unique face mask happens to be an LG PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier, which features dual H13 Grade HEPA filters, offering up to 99.7% of air filtration. The mask comes at a price of $249 (Rs. 18,148).

As per the company's claim, the wearable Air Purifier allows users to take in clean, filtered air while the Respiratory Sensor detects the cycle and volume of the wearer's breath and adjusts the dual three-speed fans accordingly. The fans automatically speed up to assist air intake and slow down to reduce resistance when exhaling to make breathing effortless, the company mentions.

It is also apparently the first air mask that features an auto-sanitizing UV Sterilizing & Charging Case that helps maintain hygiene between uses. The case is equipped with UV-C lights that kills 99.9% of bacteria and harmful germs that may remain on the mask. The face mask is said to fit snugly on the user's face and reduce the air leakage around the nose and chin.

The design also makes it possible to wear the unit comfortably for hours on end, the company states. The PuriCare Wearable Air Purifier seemingly comes packed with an 820mAh battery that happens to offer up to eight hours of use in low-power mode and approximately two hours in high-power mode.
