Isaipuyal A.R.Rahman has taken time out of his tight schedule to garner attention and support to a young swimmer who aspires to represent India in the 2020 Olympics to be held in Tokyo, Japan.
Bhakti Sharma, hailing from Udaipur of Rajasthan holds the marvellous record of being the youngest swimmer to swim in five oceans and seven seas across the globe. The 26 year old girl's dream is to qualify for the Olympics 2020 and represent the nation under the Open water swimming category which requires participants to cover a distance of 10 kilometres by swimming.
Now the ambition of this highly talented youngster has garnered the attention of a lot of people spread across the globe as the two-time grammy and double Oscar winner A.R.Rahman sought support for her in his Twitter page. "Let's support the talented Bhakti Sharma who's aiming for the Olympics 2020 in Tokyo." Rahman tweeted on June 22.
To get qualified for the event Bhakthi has to in a number of events including the world championship that will be held a year before and another tournament that will be held months before the Olympics. She has to achieve a position in the Top 10 list of the world champions to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Bhakti needs to get trained at the highest levels with renowned experts of swimming. She requires a sum of Rs.2.30 lakhs for that. Hailing from a middle class family, she can not afford this cost and hence she has started a fund raising campaign. Rahman has also shared a link to this fund raising campaign in his Twitter page.
Bhakti has said she can not thank enough for Rahman's gesture.
We are also at a loss of words to praise the support rendered by India's most popular music director for a young and aspiring sportsperson.
