AR Rahman says Me Too shouldnt be misused

A day after his sister AR Reihana said that she has heard many open complain about lyricist Varaimuthu's behaviour, the legendary AR Rahman issued a general statement on the 'Me Too' movement.

"I have been observing the Me Too movement. Some of the names have shocked me, both of victims and perpetrators. I would love to see our industry become cleaner and respectful of women. More power to all the victims coming forward. In all my endeavours, I and my team are committed to creating an environment where everyone finds a safe creative space to bring out their best, evolve and succeed," the '2.0' and 'Sarkar' music director wrote.

Interestingly, the Mozart of Madras also struck a note of caution. "Social media offers great freedom for victims to speak up. However, we should be careful in creating a new Internet justice system, in case it's misused," he added.
