AR Rahman on backlash against Gandhi Godse Ek Yuddh

For last couple weeks, filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi has been busy with the promotions of his latest film 'Gandhi Godse Ek Yuddh' which was released on Republic Day. The subject of this film has become a matter of debate as some people feel that it glorifies Gandhi Ji's murderer Nathuram Godse. Veteran music composer AR Rahman, who composed music for this film, recently addressed this issue.

In a recent media event, Rahman told the reporters, "They have not seen the film, they have assumed the trailer is taking sides… People have stopped trusting filmmakers because filmmakers are taking sides. Unfortunately… So, he (Santoshi) is the victim."

Santoshi, who is known for his superhit films in the 90s, recently requested for police protection after he received multiple death threats. He said, “Both Gandhi and Godse were fearless people. Godse wasn’t afraid of the consequences after killing Gandhi. When I am making a film on these two fearless people, how can I get scared? I don’t care about death threats but my close ones insisted I must take precautions as it is a serious threat. So, I had requested Mumbai Police for protection and they have provided me with that. I am thankful to them."
