In a strong move against online slurs, music maestro A.R. Rahman has issued legal notices to individuals spreading false and defamatory content about him on social media and YouTube. The notice warns that those responsible could face legal action under provisions carrying a potential two-year imprisonment.
The controversy stems from recent rumours following Rahman’s announcement of his separation from his wife, Saira Banu. This revelation has sparked a flurry of baseless speculations and defamatory content online. Numerous posts, articles, and videos have surfaced, offering unsubstantiated narratives and misleading interpretations of the situation.
Taking a firm stance, Rahman has demanded the immediate removal of such content. His notice categorically states that several posts circulating on social media and video-sharing platforms contain false information, damaging his reputation. He has also cautioned that failure to take down these defamatory materials will lead to legal proceedings under the relevant penal provisions.
