AR Rahman and Mohanlal teams up after 30 years!

After a gap of over 30 years, music legend AR Rahman is returning to the Malayalam film industry. Yes. You read it right! A day go, actor Mohanlal took to his social media handle on to express his happiness on collaborating with Oscar winner AR Rahman for his upcoming film 'Aaraattu'. Sharing a photo of himself with the music composer and Aaraattu movie director B Unnikrishnan, Mohanlal wrote, “A rare and remarkable shoot with the Music Maestro @arrahman for #Aaraattu. @unnikrishnanb.”

According to local reports, Rahman is making cameo performance in a special music video for the film. The picture is said to haveve been clicked from the song's shooting set. It may be noted that Mohanlal and AR Rahan's last collaboration was for the 1992 movie Yodha, that had the latter's music. He had also composed music for the 1997 Tamil film Iruvar, in which Mohanlal played the lead. Ever since the latest pics of the duo came out, fans of both Rahman and Mohanlal are eagerly awaiting the film’s release.

In Malayalam, AR Rahman is scoring music for the much-awaited Blessy directorial 'Aadujeevitham' that has Prithviraj in the lead role.

Aaraattu, bankrolled by Sajeesh Manjery and RD Illuminations under the banners of Hippo Prime Motion Pictures and Movie Pay Media’s RD Illuminations, has Shraddha Srinath in the female lead. The film also features actors Sangeeth Sivan, Nedumudi Venu, Sai Kumar, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Indrans, Johny Antony, Sheela, Rachana Narayanankutty and Swasika in important roles. Penned by Udayakrishna, the movie is slated for release on August 12 this year.
