Since it was first announced, 'Maamannan', written and directed by Mari Selvaraj, has been the subject of intense anticipation. Lead cast are Udhayanidhi Stalin, Comedian Vadivelu , Keerthy Suresh, and Fahadh Faasil. To date, Mari Selvaraj has directed two critically praised and commercially successful films, 'Pariyerum Perumal' and 'Karnan'. Udhayanidhi has decided to leave acting behind and pursue politics full-time, and "Maamannan" will be his last film before making that transition.

Acclaimed writer-producer-director AR Murugadoss announced his cameo appearance in the film at the spectacular audio launch event on Thursday in Chennai, shocking attendees with the news.

AR Murugadoss expressed gratitude Udhayanidhi for his help publishing 'Thuppaki' and 'Yezham Arivu,' two of his past directorial efforts, and told him that he was confident "Maamannan" will send a powerful groundbreaking narrative. When asked about his gratitude to Udhayanidhi, he remarked, "I am forever indebted to Udhayanidhi for his assistance in the release of 'Thuppakki' and 'Yezham Arivu'."

Official release date of the movie has not been announced, however it is expected to occur in June. The 'Maamannan' production is being handled by Udhayanidhi's Red Giant Movies.
