In the commercial pattern this kind of splendid attempt is adorable. With an Orangutan from Cambodia in `Appu Pappu' there is enough of thrills and excitement to the children especially in the last 20 minutes of the film. Prior to it usual combination of sentiments and fine effort from the team in the lovely locations of Cambodia, rises above the average level.

The first notable aspect of this film `Appu Pappu' is the great effort of the producer Soundaraya Jagadish. His determination to make a film with an Orangutan that is a tough task deserves full praise for him. The film does not miss out in a good package to family audience but the presence of very senior director who is with knowledge to make this kind of cinema it would have been still wonderful.

Orangutan looks different on some occasions and probably two or more would have been used for the proceedings in the film. The orangutan mixing up with small child Master Snehith, brushing teeth, sleeping comfortably, staying in the bath tub, having a table meal, eating banana in normal style, doing action scenes, moving very casually is very absorbing.

How the Orangutan will be brought inside the story line was discussed in the film circles but director Anantharaju has done it effortlessly. Never has it looked unwanted. The trained Orangutan(s) doing lot of work is surprising.

The clash of couple after the birth of a child results in living separately. The child is Appu (Master Snehith) and couple is Ramesh and Deepa (played by Abbas and Rekha). Appu is interested in knowing about his father for that mother Deepa gets agitated. It is the grandfather in the house shows Appu his father photo and says good things about him. Ramesh after leaving his wife is staying in Cambodia working as a manager in a posh hotel.

Accidentally Deepa who is also working woman is on office work to Cambodia and Appu uses this opportunity with the support of his grand father to catch a flight to Cambodia.

On the way to reach the hotel room Appu's bag is exchanged and it is ulterior motive from the villain's to transfer the secrets of India via pen drive. Now the toy car what Appu has in his house for time pass has the pen drive that consist of vital information of Indian sub continent.

In Cambodia, Komalkumar a thief with the help of Pappu (Orangutan) attracts the anti social elements so the assignment is passed on for one crore deal to get the pen drive from Appu. Pappu goes to do this stealing of the toy car but in an accident Pappu is saved by Appu that makes them close friends.

At this time Appu on a mission to unite his father and mother finds it not so easy task. He seeks the help of Pappu. The kidnap of Appu and Pappu at this time shocks everyone. It is done with a good purpose and both freak out in secret place. At this time the kidnap of Appu brings the separated couple together and after the search, the couple unites.

All is not well for Appu and Pappu. They are traced by the secretary of thief and two gangs follow Appu and Pappu. When they come to streets they get help from an airhostess who had seen Appu earlier and take them to safety. At the place of air hostess (played by Jennifer Kotwal) Appu throws the toy car out of anger and finds a pen drive. The pen drive and approach issue reach the Cambodian police. Things go wrong again at the police station. Appu and Pappu decide to teach a lesson to the trouble mongers in their way.

What happened to Appu when he falls from a height? Where Pappu goes in the end? It is better you watch it on silver screen of this lavishly made Kannada film.

Orangutan and Master Snehith steal the show on the silver screen. Whenever both appear on screen there is whistle and applause from the children who gathered in large numbers at Narthaki theatre morning show.

A little buxom Master Snehith has given good performance. His dance, emotions and sweet style of dialogue delivery is the main attraction. Orangutan doing several works done by the common people also gathers attention.

Komalkumar histrionics and dialogues, Raju Thalikote dialogue delivery and Rangayana Raghu's responsible role, Rekha and Abbas fine performance makes the film grand.

The father and son song, children song Nam Aeria.song on Hanuman sung by Shankar Mahadevan are on top of the chart. Hamsalekha the master at work gives good background score for the film.

The state award winning cameraman S Krishna has not given any short falls. The Cambodia locations are attractive to the eyes. The top angles in Krishna camera are superb. For the Hanuman song the use of crane shots is brilliant.

This is worth a dekho by family with children without fail.

Score - 7.5/10
