Aparna Murali, an actress and a playback singer in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, bagged the Best Actress Award at the 68th National Film Awards on Friday. The latest reports suggest that Aparna is set to pair opposite actor Prithviraj in 'Kaapa', a day after winning the prestigious award.

Manju Warrier was initially hired to play an important role in Kaapa. But recently, she opted out due to her commitment to Ajith Kumar’s upcoming film AK61, directed by H Vinoth. Sources tell us that Aparna Balamurali is replacing Manju Warrier's role in the film. However, no official announcement regarding the same has been made yet.

The Ayyappanum Koshiyum actor teamed up with director Shaji Kailas for the gangster thriller Kaapa. The script of the movie is primarily based on the well-known novel Shankumukhi by GR Indugopan, who has written the film himself. The movie is being shot in Thiruvananthapuram. The filming commenced with a pooja ceremony on July 15.

Prithviraj and Asif Ali are playing the lead roles in Kaapa while Indrans, RK Rakesh Boro and Anna Ben portray the supporting roles. The tale of the movie revolves around the historical past of the neighborhood gangsters of Thiruvananthapuram. It is produced by Dolvin Kuriakose, Jinu V Abraham and Dileesh Nair and presented under the Film Employees Federation of Kerala writers’ union and Theatre of Dreams banners.
