Principal Secretary (Health) Anil Kumar Singhal has been quoted as saying that the vaccine stock is adequate only for those who are scheduled for the second dose.
Even for frontline workers, the first jab will not be given unless they have a duly signed certificate from the office of the Joint Collector. For months, a large proportion of the workers didn't show inclination to receive vaccination.
Despite appeals by authorities to people seeking the first jab to avoid coming to vaccine centres, severe rush has been seen at health centres in Chennareddy Colony, Ruia Hospital, Scavengers Colony, Old Municipal Office and Bairagipatteda in Tirupati, reported TNIE.
So far, only 17 lakh people in AP have received both doses.
