The SEC today announced that local body polls in Andhra Pradesh stand postponed by six weeks. Panchayat, Municipal, MPTC and ZPTC poll process stands suspended for six weeks but not cancelled.

Needless to say, the postponement is due to the Corona scare everywhere.

What happens to the unanimous nominations of various candidates? The election doesn't stand cancelled. They all stand elected as before.

Also, the Model Code of Conduct remains in force.

Meanwhile, the Jana Sena Party has demanded that the nominations process has to be restarted now that elections have been postponed. "Officials should work honestly. We are preparing a report on officials who're encouraging this rowdyism in nominations. We'll make sure everyone will be accountable," Pawan Kalyan demanded.
