The YS Jaganmohan Reddy government on Monday declared holidays to students of Class 1 to 9 from Tuesday (April 20) in view of the unceasing Covid-19 surge. The decision was expected to be taken sooner than later.
As for SSC and Intermediate exams, they are going to be held as per schedule. That said, it can't be held with certainty that there won't be an about-turn on the part of the government in the coming days if the caseload on a daily basis goes up in the coming weeks.
Andhra Pradesh is expected to achieve a peak in late May or early June, following which the coronavirus cases will fall drastically.
In the meantime, the Telangana government recently decided to automatically promote all Class X students. CBSE and ICSE exams were also cancelled recently. It's said that the former were cancelled at the behest of the Prime Minister.
