In a concerning revelation, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has brought to light the diversion and misuse of funds within the Swachh Andhra Corporation (SAC). Expressing his dismay, he highlighted that the corporation, which had a corpus fund of 2,092 crore in the 2020-21 financial year, now stands with a mere 7 crore.
During a review meeting on June 26, Mr. Pawan Kalyan addressed the issue, attributing the alarming depletion of funds to the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government's large-scale diversion. Determined to take necessary action, he called upon officials to thoroughly investigate the matter and provide a comprehensive report, including the identification of those responsible for the misappropriation.
Mr. Pawan Kalyan emphasized that a significant portion of the funds received from the Central government, along with bank interest, had been misused. In the fiscal years 2020-21 and 2021-22, the Corporation utilized approximately 729 crore and 508 crore, respectively. However, by the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year, the available funds diminished to 3 crore.
To address the situation, the Central government released 70 crore in the 2022-23 financial year, supplemented by a state contribution of 20 crore. Out of this allocation, 46 crore was expended. In the subsequent financial year, 2023-24, the Corporation's funds increased to 239 crore, with 209 crore being utilized, leaving a balance of 7.04 crore to date.
Stressing the importance of accountability, Mr. Pawan Kalyan urged officials to thoroughly investigate the SAC's financial position between 2019 and 2024. The resulting comprehensive report should provide detailed insights into the misappropriation issue and identify the individuals responsible for the misuse of funds. This action aims to initiate appropriate measures to rectify the situation and ensure transparency and integrity within the management of funds at the corporation. It has to be seen how the YSRCP and its leaders among with Jagan Mohan Reddy will react to these findings.
