Cricket based movies have become a popular trend in Bollywood these days. Ranveer Singh's '83' is already in theatres while Shahid Kapoor's 'Jersey' and Taapsee Pannu's 'Shabas Mithu' are awaiting their release. Amidst all this, actress Anushka Sharma announced that she's going to star as former international cricketer Jhulan Goswami in the film 'Chakda Express'.
Although, Anushka is quite happy and excited about her comeback project, there are several people who believe that she is not the right fit for Jhulan's role. As soon as Anushka shared the teaser which showed her as the character, netizens began pointing out how her skin tone, body language, ethnicity and accent didn't match Jhulan at all.
A Twitter user wrote, “As much as I love her, she does NOT fit this role and tbh this is kinda cringe." Another one wrote, "Jhulan Goswami is one of the biggest sports icons in India. She deserves better. Anushka Sharma isn’t looking suitable for the role. Height, colour nothing matches with Legend Goswami. Also Anushka Sharma’s cringe bengali accent Nauseated face ruined the plot totally."
Another user who pointed out the miscast shared that a Bengali actress should've been chosen to play Jhulan. They wrote, "A Bengali actress must have been chosen for this role. Leave casting to Bollywood (Urduwood) and they’ll end up casting Robert Pattinson for Martin Luther King Jr.’s biopic.”
