However much the hero being a pillion rider may seem comical, it has been tried a good many times, sometimes by the likes of Shah Rukh Khan (read the scene from 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' where Anushka Sharma 'takes SRK on a ride' in a crowded supermarket) and Hrithik Roshan (it was Katrina Kaif who was seated in the front seat). In the film 'Kill Dil' it was the turn of Ranveer Singh to take a backseat, literally, as Parineeti Chopra rode to glory. In 'Tanu Weds Manu', Kangna Ranaut rode the bullet. Our own Colours Swathi did it in the Tamil film 'Vadacurry', scaring the daylights out of Jai.

Note that this is a matter of sentiment for a hero. It's Gopichand. In 'Lakshyam', Gopichand allowed himself to be pillioned. The one who ruled the roost was Anushka. Of course, it's Anushka who has gone on to become a superstar actress since then. Nevertheless, you have to give it to him for trying the same yet another time. After all, the film was a hit. In his next with Sampath Nandi, Gopichand will let Hansika do an Anushka. If the sentiment works, the film will be a hit.
