Anurag Kashyap has expressed worry over actors charging outrageous prices for films on several occasions. He thanked Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble for not charging ahead, which keeps their movies reasonably priced. Anurag clarified that unneeded costs are frequently the cause of high production costs rather than market-dictated actor salaries.

"More money is lost on superfluous expenses during a movie production than on actual shooting. I keep my spending within reason and frequently forgo my own charge. I worked on more than half of the movies I worked on for free," he remarked. He gave the example of "Gangs of Wasseypur," in which he declined to accept payment in order to spare the performers from being replaced with more well-known stars.

"While I don't deal with major stars, Shah Rukh, Salman, and Aamir are the most frugal performers in our business. "They take backend deals instead of upfront fees, which lowers the cost of their films," Anurag said.

Anurag started off writing for Ram Gopal Varma's "Satya" and "Kaun." He also penned lines for "Shool," directed by E Niwas. The never-released "Paanch" was Anurag's directing debut. Owing to political turmoil, his second movie, "Black Friday," took five years to come to theaters. Fame came to him in "Dev D," "Gulaal," "Gangs of Wasseypur," "Mukkabaaz," and "Manmarziyaan." "Sacred Games" his online series also shot to fame.

Anurag most recently played a villain in Vijay Sethupathi's "Maharaja". He will next be seen in "Bad Cop," and "Kennedy," his forthcoming directing project, was shown at Cannes Film Festival 2023.
