After Acharya, Megastar Chiranjeevi will next be collaborating with Jayam Mohan Raja for the Telugu remake of the Malayalam thriller Lucifer. The film was supposed to commence the first schedule earlier this month, but the shooting has been postponed as the country battles record COVID surge and also due to casting issues.
The latest update is that the makers have recently approached Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap for the antagonist's role, which was essayed by Vivek Oberoi in the original. However, the Gangs of Wasseypur director has turned down the offer citing his aversion to work in remakes. The team is now dwelling on a popular Telugu villain who is known for his powerful roles in several blockbusters.
It is also being speculated that the makers are also looking for a replacement for Nayanthara, who was initially roped in to play Chiranjeevi's sister in the film. The sultry actress, who has bagged the advance for the film has reportedly changed her mind because of her call sheet issues. Chiranjeevi will be stepping into the shoes of Mohanlal in the political entertainer that also features Satyadev Kancharana in a supporting role.
Produced under NVR Cinemas in association with Megaa Supergood Films, Lucifer Telugu remake has music by SS Thaman.
