Since last several months, a large number of Bollywood movies have performed poorly on box office and filmmakers are busy figuring out how to get over this slump. One of the biggest production houses of Bollywood, Yash Raj Films is also going through the same struggle as their last three promising movies 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar', 'Shamshera' and 'Samrat Prithviraj' have failed to impress the audience.
In a recent media interaction, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shared that YRF head Aditya Chopra's tendency to control every aspect of operations is the reason behind their repeating failure. He told Galatta Plus, "You have one person sitting in a cave, who doesn’t know the world outside, dictating how everybody should be making their films and telling them what to do. Obviously you’re digging your own grave…"
Sharing how YRF can change for better, Anurag said, "You have to empower people, you can’t dictate terms. That time is passe now. If Aditya Chopra has hired a bunch of people, he needs to empower them and not dictate them, not control the casting, not control everything. Sit in your office, hire good people if you trust them, and let them make their film. Which is the mistake he makes. He doesn’t let them.”
